For a wonderful man who devoted his life to spreading peace in the hearts of thousands

Phra Bart or Khru Baitika Dr. Barton Yanathiro, an American monk, was a former professor and international development specialist, with a Ph.D. in Sociology & Social Psychology from Cornell University. He was a professor of research methodology and was impressed by the depths of what Lord Buddha learned just sitting under a tree. He was ordained as a monk at Wat Luang Phor Sodh Dhammakayaram on March 6th 2002. For 9 years of being a monk, he developed international meditation retreats and taught thousands of meditators around the world. He also broadcasted Sunday Dhamma Talks and ran English program teaching English to monks and nuns. Most importantly, he was the head of translation team, producing a lot of Buddhist publications, such as the Three Trainings based on the Path of Purification, Samatha-Vipassana Meditation and Sunday Dhamma Talks. He passed away on Wednesday 22nd, 2011 in the morning. The cause of death is blood infection. The cremation ceremony took place on Sunday 26th 2pm. The following pictures are for you to remember him by.
